Woodturning is a wonderful activity that allows us to blend beauty with use, pretty with practical. Some woodturners focus on projects which produce beuatiful articles with little practical value. Others put out very practical items that do little for the eye. My very practical upbringing and technical training have me looking for usefulness while my love of color, shape and flow drive me please the eye as well. Some of my work does come out as more practical or more attractive, but usually it is a blend of the two.
